For informational queries that don't matter much, this is fine. Nobody needs E-E-A-T signals for "how to center a div." But for anything that touches YMYL—Your Money or Your Life—health, finance, legal, career advice, anything where bad information could genuinely hurt someone—Google's quality raters are explicitly trained to look for those signals. And that's exactly where most AI content falls flat on its face.

So the move isn't to stop using AI. The move is to build an AI content agent that targets E-E-A-T signals deliberately, then layer in the human elements that no model can fabricate.

Let me show you how.

Why E-E-A-T Is the Only SEO Framework That Matters Right Now

Before we build anything, let's get the fundamentals locked in, because I see people misunderstand this constantly.

E-E-A-T isn't a ranking factor. Google has said this explicitly. There's no "E-E-A-T score" in the algorithm. The strategy that actually works: use AI for what it's good at (research, structure, expertise synthesis, citation gathering) and inject genuine human experience and editorial oversight where AI falls short.

1. Key claims/facts from the top 10 ranking pages (summarize consensus and disagreements)
2. 5 expert quotes from recognized authorities, published in 2023 or later. 
   Format each as: "Quote" — Name, Credential, Source Title, URL
3. 3 relevant statistics with original source links
4. Common misconceptions or outdated advice still ranking
5. Content gaps: what are the top pages NOT covering?

Prioritize primary sources (studies, official guidelines, direct interviews) 
over secondary summaries.

What you get back is a research brief that would take a human writer 2-3 hours to compile. Perplexity is particularly good here because it provides inline citations you can verify. Grok is strong for real-time data and tends to be more straightforward about uncertainty.

Critical step: Verify every quote and statistic. AI hallucinates sources. I've seen Perplexity generate perfectly formatted citations to articles that don't exist. Click every link. This isn't optional—it's the foundation of Trustworthiness.

Stage 2: Outline Agent (Targeting Structure for E-E-A-T)

Tool: Claude (Sonnet or Opus) — this is where Claude genuinely outperforms other models

The outline stage isn't just about organizing headers. It's about deliberately structuring the piece so E-E-A-T signals are baked into the architecture.

Create a detailed outline for a 2,000-word article on "[YOUR TOPIC]."

Requirements:
- Include a "My Experience" section (I'll fill in my personal anecdote about [BRIEF DESCRIPTION])
- Place 3-5 expert quotes from this research [PASTE RESEARCH BRIEF] naturally throughout
- Include a "What Most Guides Get Wrong" section addressing content gaps
- Add an author credibility statement in the intro (I'll provide my background)
- Structure for featured snippet capture: use a clear definition early, 
  then expand
- End with actionable steps, not a generic conclusion
- Flag where primary source citations should appear

Format as: H2 > H3 > bullet points with notes on what each section should accomplish 
for E-E-A-T.

Claude is particularly good at this because it follows structural instructions precisely and will actually flag when something doesn't serve the E-E-A-T framework. It'll say things like "This section would benefit from a specific example rather than a general claim" — which is exactly the kind of editorial judgment you want at the outline stage.

Stage 3: Draft Agent (Generating the Expertise Layer)

Tool: Claude, GPT-4, or Grok — whichever matches your topic's tone best

Now you generate the actual draft, but with explicit E-E-A-T instructions:

- Write in first person where indicated in the outline
- Leave [PERSONAL ANECDOTE] placeholders where my experience sections are — 
  do NOT fabricate personal stories
- Integrate expert quotes naturally with full attribution:

The key instruction here is the [PERSONAL ANECDOTE] placeholder approach. This is non-negotiable. Never let AI fabricate personal experiences. Not because Google can magically detect it right now, but because:

  1. The patterns are detectable and getting more detectable
  2. It's dishonest, and your readers will eventually notice
  3. It creates legal and reputational risk for YMYL content
  4. It defeats the entire purpose of E-E-A-T

What you get from this stage is a well-researched, well-structured draft that's strong on Expertise and Authoritativeness but intentionally incomplete on Experience. That's by design.

Stage 4: The Human Experience Layer (This Is Where You Actually Win)

This is the stage no tool can automate, and it's the one most people skip because it requires actual work. It's also the stage that separates content that ranks from content that doesn't.

Open the draft. Find the [PERSONAL ANECDOTE] placeholders. And fill them with real things that happened to you.

Here's what makes a strong Experience signal:

  • Specificity: "In March 2024, I tested this with a B2B SaaS client generating ~40K organic sessions/month" beats "In my experience working with clients."
  • Failure and nuance: "The first version tanked—we lost 15% of our featured snippets in two weeks before figuring out the entity markup was wrong" beats "After some adjustments, we saw great results."

  2. Disclose your perspective transparently. "I haven't personally undergone this procedure, but I've spent 40 hours researching it and interviewed three surgeons" is a perfectly valid Experience statement. Transparency is a trust signal.

Stage 5: Optimization Agent (Targeting Search Performance)

That's not what they're targeting.

What does get you in trouble:

  • Fabricating experience or credentials
  • Publishing without human review on YMYL topics
  • Mass-generating hundreds of thin pages with no editorial oversight
  • Passing off AI-generated "personal stories" as real experiences

What's completely fine:

  • Using AI to research, outline, and draft
  • Having AI find and format expert quotes (that you verify)
