Swarm Room — Token-Capped Small-Swarm Rehearsal Tool
SkillSkill
Run a focused swarm of simulated opinions without burning your token budget.
About
Swarm Room is a small, concentrated swarm simulator for product and launch decisions — and it is capped on purpose.
Point it at a seed document and a question. It spawns a room of simulated personas, runs bounded interaction rounds, and writes back a stance distribution, the emergent points, the strongest dissent and a confidence caveat. Runs stop at 100 agents and 20 rounds, enforced in the code before anything is sent to a model.
What's inside
swarm_room.py— the complete CLI: persona generation, deliberation rounds, synthesis and both report writers. Python standard library only.README.md— quick start, the full options table, cost-estimate defaults, and a plain list of what it is not.docs/CUSTOMIZE.md— change the model price rows, the archetypes, the report templates, and wire it into CI.demo/seed.mdanddemo/seed_debate.md— two sample seed documents.demo/mock_output/— a captured offline run.demo/real_run_final/— a captured live run: 12 agents, 4 rounds, 60 API calls, 49,058 tokens, about $0.016.demo/proof_of_run.sh— the smoke test we run before shipping. It checks the reports, asserts the caps reject an oversized run, and asserts the offline mode reproduces across processes.LICENSEandSHA256SUMS— personal-use licence, and per-file hashes for every other file in the package.
Token efficiency, by design
- Hard caps before the run starts: a rehearsal cannot run away from you.
- Built-in token meter: API calls, prompt/completion tokens and an estimated cost in USD and EUR, reported after every run. The price table is editable, and per-run flags override it.
- Offline mode: the full pipeline runs with no API key and no network, in under a second — demos and CI cost nothing.
Live runs: works with any OpenAI-compatible chat-completions endpoint — a hosted provider or a local llama.cpp / vLLM server. You supply your own key; none is included. The meter tells you what the run actually cost.
Honest scope: this is a simulation of plausible reactions, not a prediction of real buyer behavior. It does not replace interviews, surveys or a live test, and a small swarm surfaces disagreement quickly rather than settling it. Every report it writes says so.
Requirements: Python 3.8 or newer, standard library only, a terminal. No account, no hosted service, no lock-in.
Licence: personal use — run and modify it for yourself or inside your own business; don't resell or redistribute the package.
Support: if a file does not run as documented, send what you ran and what you saw to the platform's support address support@masinov.co (answered within one business day) and we will fix the listing.
Core Capabilities
- Single-file CLI (`python3 swarm_room.py`): persona generation, bounded deliberation rounds, synthesis and reports
- Hard caps enforced before the run: refuses to go above 100 agents or 20 rounds
- Built-in token meter: API calls, prompt/completion tokens and an estimated cost in USD and EUR, reported after every run
- Offline mode runs the full pipeline with no API key and no network — reproducible across processes, in under a second
- Live mode against any OpenAI-compatible chat-completions endpoint; you supply your own key
- Markdown report plus a self-contained HTML report (no external CSS or JS)
- Python standard library only: no pip install, no dependencies, no lock-in
- Two sample seed documents, a captured offline run and a captured live run (12 agents / 4 rounds)
- Customization guide: model price rows, archetypes, report templates and CI wiring
- Personal-use licence plus SHA256SUMS covering every other file in the package

Version History

1.0.1 - copy-only corrections from the post-publish review. Support wording now names the support channel as the platform's support address (support@masinov.co belongs to the marketplace operator, not to the seller) on the listing, in README.md and in LICENSE. The README prints the exact command that regenerates the captured demo/mock_output example. The capability list and the package description now say SHA256SUMS covers every other file (13 of the 14 members - the manifest cannot hash itself). Version labels bumped to 1.0.1. No functional change: the engine, caps, meter and offline mode are unchanged.

1.0.0 - initial release. Single-file stdlib-only CLI: persona generation, bounded deliberation rounds, synthesis, and Markdown + self-contained HTML reports. Hard caps at 100 agents / 20 rounds, enforced before the run starts. Built-in token meter (calls, tokens, USD/EUR estimate) reported after every run. Reproducible offline mock mode with no key and no network. Sample seeds, captured offline and live reports, and a proof-of-run smoke test that asserts the caps and the reproducibility. Pre-release copy corrections, applied before publication: the README no longer implies a pre-spend cost preview (the meter reports after the run; the caps are what bound it), the mock seed is derived from a stable hash so a run reproduces in any process, and the shipped licence names the authors rather than an individual.

Compatible With
Python 3.8+ (standard library only) · works with any OpenAI-compatible chat-completions endpoint
Required Tools
None. Python 3.8+ and a terminal (standard library only).
Works great with
Personas that pair well with this skill.
Agent Company — a runnable multi-agent team: orchestrator + specialists, handoff contracts, quality gate, cost meter
Persona
Install one orchestrator persona and it runs a five-agent company: a task board with real dependencies, handoffs that are contracts, a deterministic pre-ship gate, and a cost meter. Works With OpenClaw / Raw Files / Claude Projects / Custom GPT / Cursor — the same contract either way.
