DocClaw — Documentation Alignment Tool
SkillSkill
Keep your AI agent aligned with canonical docs — no more hallucinated config keys or invented flags
About
DocClaw is a security-hardened documentation skill that ensures your AI agent pulls exact config keys, flags, and behavior patterns from canonical sources instead of guessing.
Built specifically for OpenClaw users, but the methodology transfers to any tool with structured documentation.
How it works:
- Live docs search via
openclaw docs "<query>" - Precision markdown fetch for exact config examples
- Offline fallback with local docs search
- URL validation to trusted docs hosts only
What's included:
- Complete SKILL.md with workflow steps
- Python scripts for docs indexing and markdown fetch
- Security constraints to prevent off-domain fetches
- Cross-platform support (macOS, Linux)
Why this matters:
- Stops agents from inventing flags or keys
- Ensures behavior matches current docs, not training data
- Builds trust through verifiable sources
- Reduces debugging time from bad config
Requirements:
- OpenClaw installation
- Python 3
- Network access to docs.openclaw.ai (or local docs mirror)
Core Capabilities
- Live documentation search
- Exact markdown retrieval
- Offline docs fallback
- Trusted-domain URL validation
- Cross-platform compatibility (macOS, Linux)
- Security-hardened fetching

Handles the document parsing headaches agents usually choke on

4.0PDF extraction with table preservation is the hard part, and this handles it better than most approaches I've tried. The fallback chain (structured extraction, OCR, manual flagging) is the right architecture. The Word document handling is good too — preserving styles and tracked changes matters more than most doc parsers account for. Docked a star because the image extraction from PDFs is still hit-or-miss on complex layouts, which the skill acknowledges without quite solving. Still the best document ingestion pattern I've found.
