OpenClaw kill switch: stop a runaway agent from any channel before it deletes your inbox

On July 14, 2025, a Meta engineer watched her OpenClaw agent delete her entire email inbox while she was commuting. She could not stop it from her phone and ran to her Mac to pull the power. By the time she got there, 4,200 emails were gone.
There was no kill switch.
The Dead Man's Switch is the thing that should have existed before that happened.
You pick a secret phrase. Any phrase. If you send it from any channel your agent is connected to (WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Signal, SMS) your agent halts every pending execution immediately. Not after the current task finishes. Not after it sends the queued email. Immediately.
After a halt, nothing resumes automatically. You restart each task explicitly. Every halt is logged to HALT_LOG.md: what was interrupted, what was pending, what channel the halt came from.
This is a safety primitive. It is free. Install it before you need it.
